02 Aug Repentance
Many understand the term”repentance” to mean “turning from sin”. This is not the biblical definition of repentance.
The word” to repent” in the bible means “to change one’s mind”. The bible tells us that true repentance will result in a change of actions (Luke 3:8-14, Acts 3:19). Acts 26:20 declares , “I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds”. Hence, the whole biblical essence and meaning of the word repentance is a change of mind that results in a change of action. John the baptist called the people “to produce fruit in keeping with repentance”(Matthew 3:8). A person who has truly repented from rejection of Christ to faith in Christ will give evidence of a changed life.
Repentance and faith are “two sides of the same coin”. it is impossible to place your faith in Jesus Christ as saviour without first changing your mind about who He is and what He has done for you. Repentance is an essential part of salvation, requiring to turning away from the sin-ruled life to a life characterized by obedience to God.
The essence of this piece is to draw our heart to the truth that repentance, which is a change of mind should lead to change of action. Repentance is key to FAITH in Christ Jesus.
Lets keep this in our hearts, that repentance is key to faith in Christ and it leads to a new life in Him. God allows a man to make a U-turn if he is heading the wrong direction.
Life is a journey indeed.
