25 Nov LET YOUR WORD COME OH LORD.
May the riches of God’s goodness be yours today in Jesus name.
In the next couple of weeks we will look at the story of a pilgrim, called Jonah. The book of Jonah in the Bible is our reference.
We want to strictly make profit of the word of God, for the word of God is God’s breathed(given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience,(and) for training in righteousness(in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.( 2 Timothy 3:16.Amplified version)
Please come along with your bible.
There is a general agreement that Prophet Jonah wrote the book named after him in the bible. The name, Jonah, in Hebrew language means a dove. He is the son of Amittai-the truth in Hebrew language. He wrote to tell us of his own fault which today many will want to rationalize. He was called of God specifically to go to no other place but to a great city called called Nineveh,” Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, sayings, Arise go to Nineveh that great city, and cry against it, for their wickedness is come up before me”.
It is important to point out, that what came to Jonah was the word of God, not the word, idea, or philosophy of man. You and I need the word of God. It is the word of God that inspires a man towards the discovery of purpose. Life is truly a journey; the word of God like a compass helps a man not just to locate his position, it also guides man towards his desired destination. It is in the word of God that a man truly finds relevance in life.
Have you received any word from the Lord today? Remember “man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from His mouth” (Mathew 4:4).
The word of God is life, honour, cherish and obey it.
May His word come alive and refresh you.
Prayer: Let your word come to me Lord, speak to me Lord, touch my heart and my soul.
Memory verses: “Receive I pray thee, the law from His mouth and lay up His words in thine heart. Job 22:22.
